There goes another one | AlertMe sold to British Gas in $100 million deal

A busy week for the alumni of our IoT Forum Ones to Watch companies at the BLN IoT Forum. AlertMe has been acquired by British Gas in a deal worth $100 million. AlertMe powered the technology behind Hive, the connected homes platform that currently sits in over 500,000 homes and this deal means British Gas will be using the platform to expand into millions of homes.

Following on from the news earlier this week that SigFox, another Ones to Watch alumni received a $113 million funding round to accelerate the roll out its network across more countries, it has been a good week for companies that have showcased at the IoT Forum.

British Gas and Hive will also be speaking at this year’s event as Chris Beanland, Head of New Products, Hive, shares their experiences about what happens when you put the IoT in 500,000 homes.

Today is the deadline to apply to speak at this year’s event, 11-12th March as one of this year’s Ones to Watch.

If you just want to come and learn how IoT is affecting businesses and their existing business models, register now before it’s too late.
