Nice analysis of evolving US mobile landscape from Asymco.
Some of the numbers are staggering – approximately 650,000 users switched from a non-smart to smart phone every WEEK in September 2011.
While reports of the imminent death of RIMM seem to be a little exaggerated the most notable thing is the inexorable rise of Android.
Asymco says that using trailing numbers, the 50% mark will be reached by next September but that as the switch is accelerating, it is likely to be earlier. Thought provoking stuff if you don’t have a mobile strategy because that is just for people with iPhones.
