The BLN CEO Tales & Networking Drinks

Our BLN CEO Tales networking drinks event will be held in London on 19th October from 18.00 – 20.30.

We will be joined by a small panel of CEOs who have closed funding for their businesses this year to answer the question, ‘What do you now wish you knew before you started fundraising?

BLN CEO Tales networking drinks is an opportunity for an ever growing community of quality venture- and private equity-backed entrepreneurs, VCs, PE investors and corporates  to connect and share experiences with their peers.

Featured speakers:

  • Michael Ross – Founder, Director, eCommera. Previously, Michael co-founded and was CEO of Figleaves.com, the world’s leading online retailer of multi-brand lingerie, underwear, hosiery and swimwear. As well as being Director at eCommera, Michael is also a non-executive director of GlassesDirect.com and Spreadshirt.com and adviser to WarehouseExpress.com
  • Jonathon Attwood – Founder and Chief SwapIt of Swapitshop, the leading UK online swapping & trading community for young people. Johnny set up Swapitshop in 1999 and raised funds from venture investors including Mayfield in November 2008.
  • Richard Green – Founder & CEO, Ubisense, world leader in Precise Real-Time Location Systems to track people and assets accurately. Ubisense has been funded by founders and angels, now has over 400 customers in 25 countries and significant revenues. Ubisense was the 3rd fastest growing company for the EMEA region over the last five years in Deloitte’s European Fast 500 competition.

We will also distribute copies of Calibre One‘s 3rd Quarter Technology Investment Review – a first sight of their comprehensive quarterly review of venture capital technology investments in Europe and the US.

BLN events offer investors, corporate execs, CEOs and founders of high growth businesses the chance to meet other smart, busy people to share ideas, challenges, meet investors, customers and partners. This BLN discussion and drinks networking event will be held at the new law offices of Taylor Wessing, which enjoy some of the best views of the Thames in the City.

Displaylink raises $8 million from existing investors

Congratulations to Displaylink the second Cambridge, UK based hardware company to close a funding round in the past week or so. Displaylink makes cool USB widgets that allow you to plug more than one screen into your computer.

Existing investors including Atlas Venture, Balderton, DFJ Esprit are believed to have invested the entire $8 million into the round. Displaylink has now received over $ 51 million in funding and is viewed by many as a prime acquistion target.

Nujira raises further £10 million from existing investors and Environmental Technologies Fund

The Environmental Technologies Fund joins existing investors (Amadeus, DFJ Esprit, Mitsubishi and Bank Invest) to put a further £10 million into ambitious power amplifier company, Nujira. Funds are for market expansion and bring the total raised by the company to £ 26 million. Tim Haynes, Nujira founder and CEO expects this to take the company to break even in a rapidly expanding market.
